Abstract

In January 2025 there was year on year (y-on-y) inflation in West Sumatra Province of 1.24 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.93. The highest inflation occurred in West Pasaman Regency by 2.38 percent with a CPI of 108.40 and the lowest occurred in Padang City by 0.81 percent with a CPI of 106.39.
  • Y-on-y inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by the increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: food, beverage and tobacco group by 4.60 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.73 percent; household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.22 percent; health group by 2.71 percent; transportation group by 1.30 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 1.78 percent; education group by 2.98 percent; food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 1.39 percent; and personal care and other services group by 7.71 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that experienced deflation were the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 6.65 percent and the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.19 percent.
