Abstract

May 2024 Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation in West Sumatra Province amounted to 4.17 percent. The highest inflation occurred in West Pasaman Regency at 5.93 percent.

Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco group by 9.68 percent; clothing and footwear group by 1.55 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 1.42 percent; household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.48 percent; health group by 1.11 percent; transportation group by 0.66 percent; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.11 percent, recreation, sports, and culture group by 1.90 percent; education group by 1.83 percent; food and beverage supply/restaurant group by 1.87 percent; and personal care and other services group by 4.99 percent.
By month to month (m-to-m), West Sumatra Province in May 2024 experienced inflation of 0.51 percent. Until May 2024, year to date (y-to-d) inflation in West Sumatra Province amounted to 1.71 percent.
